Weekend adventures

On this first weekend in China, our hosts treated us to touring various gardens and museums in the Zhuhai area.   One of the museums focused on Zhuhai resident Tang Guo’an and his contemporaries in the 1800s.  Along with Tang, several Chinese students were accepted into Harvard, Yale, Columbia, and MIT.  They were welcomed to the US by President Grant.  Each one of these students later became the precursors of China's modern mining, transportation, communications industries, were first presidents of Tsinghua University and Tianjin University, the first diplomats, and the first premier of the Republic of China.
