Home again in Indiana

Jeff got home today after a week in Singapore. The entire team is home now. PTL for smooth safe travel - though my plane did get struck by lightning as we were leaving Seoul. That causes a flash of excitement!

Heading Home

Everyone makes last minute contacts with family and friends via the free Internet service provided at the Hong Kong airport.  We continue to laugh and reflect on our wonderful experiences on this trip.  We all also tried to get a good walk in before our long period of needing to stay seated for 14 hours!  Thanks for all your thoughts for us during this whole amazing journey.  (Audrey)

Hong Kong Airport!

Bronwen and Melissa found some great displays!  Bronwen practices her flight attendant pose, and Melissa, our very own Jamaican superstar, poses with another famous Jamaican - Usain Bolt!

Sunday Morning!

We are at the airport ready to head out in about an hour!

Saturday Night

We spent our last night together as a team sharing laughs over dinner. Afterwards we walked through the night market near Booth Lodge where we are staying.  Bronwen and Melissa made sure to show Norm the Forester all the sights on Nathan Road in Kowloon. Go HU!

Saturday in Hong Kong

After crossing Victoria Harbor, we took a bus to the southern part of Hong Kong Island to Stanley Market where we had some lunch and did a little shopping for loved ones at home.  We enjoyed seeing this special dinner guest at the table next to us at the outdoor restaurant!  Woof, woof! (Audrey)

Saturday in Hong Kong

The team arrived safely at Booth Lodge late Friday evening.  Saturday morning we met for a time of fellowship and sharing our reflections about our trip. After meeting together, we crossed Victoria Harbor on the Star Ferry.  (Audrey)

Senior High Camp Portrait

This is the wonderful group of young people with whom we had the privilege of interacting this past week.  It was a great week of English Camp.

Saying Good-bye

Saying Good-bye

We all enjoyed the cake time and, as usual, had our photos taken so many times we couldn't count.

Saying Good-bye

We had our end-of-camp celebration and awards ceremony Friday afternoon.  Here are Adam, Jumbo, and Susan helping Terry lead "Friends Forever."  Each team flag was also given away to one lucky team member whose name was drawn from a hat.  Afterwards, during the cake time, Luke and Bronwen, the resident brass players, serenaded the students with impromptu tunes on the flag poles!

A roving team of reporters from Explosion interviews Jeff about his experiences in China

The English Super Monsters give a news report on Monday's events at English Camp

Final Lunch Conversations

Here is Melissa at our last 2013 lunch in the camp canteen.  We have really enjoyed the time to chat in English over lunch every day.

Birthday Girl

Today (Friday) is Val's birthday.  Some of the students presented her with flowers.

Friday Morning TV News Reports

This morning the students had to do a news report about different days of the camp.  They were so creative putting together a news program in an hour and ten minutes.  Here is Bronwen's group's news anchors.  The other photo shows Melissa being interviewed by a "reporter."  (Audrey)

Beginning our Good-byes

Thursday evening we had our farewell dinner with our hosts.  Those of us at Jumbo's house went back and had a dessert together and took lots of photos.  (Audrey)

Friendship

The personal connections we have made continue to be a highlight of our trip.  Here are Val, Nancy, and Jana looking at a scrapbook that Shoshannah's teachers made for her.  Shoshannah has also done a great job sharing about Huntington University with local students.  (Audrey)

Describe and Draw #2

Our English competition on Thursday afternoon consisted of two rounds of having the students take turns describing a picture to an "artist" from their groups who had not seen the picture. Here they are in action!  (Terry is the ever present emcee and judge!)
